KANGAR, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- The Perlis Agriculture Department targets to raise the state's production of Harumanis mango to 4,000 metric tonnes worth about RM80 million next year, from 3,200 metric tonnes last year worth RM60 million.
Its Director Zulkepli Amin Mat Jusoh said 1,036 farmers registered with the department grow the variety on 855 hectares of land, up from 550 hectares in 2014, with demand growng every year both locally and abroad, he told Bernama when contacted here today.
"The state government is serious in making Harumanis known worldwide and provides aid and training to growers," he said, adding only quality fruits are exported, to such countries as Japan, Dubai, Singapore and Taiwan.
