TM Partners Mekongnet To Expand Regional Footprint

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) will further strengthen its regional footprint in Southeast Asia through its alliance with MekongNet, a leading Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Internet Exchange Provider (IXP) in Cambodia.

In a statement, TM said that through this partnership, MekongNet will be hosting and providing network infrastructure for TM's multi-services node or Point-of-Presence (POP) in Cambodia.

This will enable MekongNet to provide alternative connectivity solutions to its customers as well as serve Cambodia's growing demand for international Internet bandwidth, through diverse routes, connecting to TM's other POPs in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong.

This collaborative effort also further enables MekongNet to expand product reachability to its customers worldwide through TM's global presence.

TM Global & Wholesale Vice President Mohamed Asri Jaafar said this new POP would address the increasing demand for Internet Protocol (IP) services from the Indochina region, which is currently experiencing rapid economic and Internet bandwidth growth.

"TM will be able to offer a vast range of services at a competitive price, going in and out from Cambodia through diversified routes via submarine and terrestrial cables, connecting to our existing on-net network presence," Mohamed Asri said.
