SABAK BERNAM, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysia SME Media Group has launched its first Community LEAD Centre (LEAD Centre) in Sekinchan near here with the aim of assisting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in strengthening their business.
Its chief executive officer and chief group editor, Wayne Lim said besides offering advisory services and business guidance to SMEs in Sekinchan, the centre would also help them extend their business network.
"LEAD stands for leverage, engage, assist and developed.
"And the objectives of the LEAD Centre is to promote entrepreneurship in second-tier cities, facilitate migration of informal business into formal entities, extend outreach assistance programmes to SMEs and accelerate their growth by leveraging on ICT products and services.
"We've decided to open our first LEAD Centre in Sekinchan as it is a tourist destination with many SMEs, including those involved in the homestay industry," he told reporters after launching the Community LEAD Centre in Sekinchan on Tuesday.
Malaysia SME Media Group plans to open 11 more LEAD centres over the next six months based on high tourism activities and SME concentration.
The proposed centres are earmarked for Banting (Selangor); Taiping, Teluk Intan (Perak); Bahau, Port Dickson (Negeri Sembilan); Mersing, Kluang, Yong Peng (Johor); Raub, Cameron Highlands (Pahang), and Kemaman (Terengganu).
