Arrive 3 Hours Before Departure, AirAsia Urges Passengers

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- AirAsia Bhd is encouraging all passengers travelling during the year-end school holiday period to arrive at least three hours prior to their scheduled departure to avoid the anticipated congestion at most major airports.

The company expects at least 40,000 passengers daily throughout this holiday period at klia2, it said in a statement.

AirAsia said travelling formalities such as customs and immigration clearance as well as security checks might take longer than usual during this peak travel period.

Self Check-In options via web, mobile app or kiosk services are available from 14 days and up to one hour prior to departure for all AirAsia flights, and up to four hours prior to departure for all AirAsia X flights, it said.

Guests are also highly recommended to print their boarding passes before arriving at the airport to ease their travel process, it said.

"For guests with baggage to check in, Baggage Drop counters close 60 minutes before flight departure for all AirAsia and AirAsia X flights.

"As congestion is expected at the baggage drop counters, immigration checkpoints, security scanning, and baggage clearance during this holiday season, it is advisable to complete the baggage drop process and proceed to the boarding gate as early as possible," it added.
