SUBANG JAYA, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) need to move ahead in line with the constantly changing business environment, said Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah.
"Malaysians have to move together for the future, achieve continued success, while maintaining business relationships and avoid friction," he told reporters at the Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards 2015 ceremony, here today.
He said the SME community contributes 33 per cent to the gross domestic product in continuing to play a vital role to Malaysia's economic growth.
"Besides its direct contribution, it is also a catalyst for innovation and creator of an ecosystem of many linkages, that support larger corporations and multinationals," Husni added.
He said going forward, the government will do all it can to continue supporting the SMEs, by strengthening and creating a conducive environment for business operations and investments in areas such as assisting access to markets, financing, trade facilitation, training and hand holding, amongst others.
The Sin Chew Business Excellence Awards emphasises strategic management approaches with its primary target audience being SMEs by nomination, followed by a secondary audience in the non-SMEs corporate sector on invitation.
The awards serve as the highest accolades for SMEs which have achieved excellence in all key business management disciplines which form the strategic parts of organisational growth and sustainability.
