Homegrown Training Specialist Knowledgecom Plans To Expand In ASEAN

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) - KnowledgeCom Corporation Sdn Bhd, a homegrown solution and information and communications technology-related training provider is all geared up to take full opportunity of the ASEAN Economic Community by expanding its footprint in the region.

"ASEAN is facilitating movement of people in trade, services and investment. We want to take opportunity of that," said the Chief Executive Officer, S.T Rubaneswaran.

The Philippines will be KnowledgeCom's first venture out of Malaysia amid the huge potential there, he said.

"In January next year we will start in the Philippines. We already have our partner there and have also secured the licence," he told Bernama in an interview.

In the second half of 2016, KnowledgeCom, which was recently recognised as 100 Top SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in Malaysia had plans to venture into Vietnam as well, he said.

Among the key features of the company, which is headquartered in Petaling Jaya, is that it initiated the first SAP e-learning in Malaysia.

To-date it has trained over 4,000 people for SAP Certification and it produces the highest number of passing rate in ASEAN.

KnowledgeCom was awarded the best SAP (systems, applications and products) Training Partner in 2011 and 2013 Partner of the Year. It is also a technology partner with Oracle, ITIL, Android and IPv6.

"So, due to our success, SAP has offered us to bring this way of training to other countries," said Rubaneswaran, who was instrumental in turning around the company from RM1.7 million accumulated losses to RM1 million net profit in 2012.

He said the company planned to train local talents in the Philippines and Vietnam and bring them to Malaysia and vice versa and to other ASEAN countries.

On the outlook for the sector, Rubaneswaran said demand for training and re-training workforce would continue to grow both in the government and private sector.

"We have seen three rounds of retrenchments and we help them to be certified in a different skill sets and secure a new job," he said, adding that the firm also specialises in training, up-skilling fresh graduates and professionals.

KnowledgeCom have trained close to 650 organisations and key government partners are from Multimedia Development Corporation, Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Bhd (PSMB), Ministry of Education, Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd, SME Corporation Malaysia and the Economic Planning Unit.

Among others, it has also recently started a quarterly magazine called, UP Magazine, which has a circulation of 20,000 copies that are mailed directly to all PSMB contributors, ministries, universities, embassies and non-governmental bodies, making it the largest circulated training magazine in the country.

"This would give a sustainable business model to KnowledgeCom as we would be able to target directly decision makers of companies with our services," he said.

Also in the pipeline are plans to acquire a college as well go for a main board listing within the next two years, he said.

"We are currently making about RM10 million revenue per annum and want to push it further as well as expand our operations to quality for a main board listing," he added.
